Complexity From All Directions – Learn How to Stay Ahead of the Curve at This Year’s ZE Hosted Vancouver Conference
It’s conference season! We are halfway through 2012 and so far this year ZE has held two successful Lunch and Learn events in Geneva and Boston, and has sponsored, exhibited and presented at a number of other events throughout North America and Europe. We have a number of Lunch and Learn workshops planned throughout the second half of 2012, and we are particularly excited about hosting the annual Energy and Commodities Conference and ZEMA User Forum in our beautiful city of Vancouver this Fall. We hope you save October 3 -5 in your calendar to join us. This is the third year running for this event, which has drawn participants from across North America, Europe, Asia and South America. It’s not surprising that more and more companies abroad are visiting us on the West Coast for this event. ZE is committed to staying informed on the latest trends and developments in the energy and commodities industry, and sharing this knowledge with its fellow market participants. The Conference provides a friendly environment for participants to discuss current issues, engage with solutions experts and develop relationships within the industry’s community.
This year, the Conference will focus on Staying Ahead of the Curve: Trends and Challenges in Energy and Commodities Data. We will look at changes affecting the market (Dodd-Frank, unconventional gas, renewables), discuss data proliferation and infrastructure considerations, examine why forward curves are essential and who is building them, and explore EDM to ETRM integration.
The inspiration for this year’s focus is the reality that energy and commodities participants are facing today – the burden of managing mass volumes of information. This increase in data can be attributed to a myriad of causes, including a growing number of sources, an increase in the granularity of data, and data in different formats (structured and unstructured). An abundance of information is also generated from established and emerging markets; data can be restructured or disappear due to changes in the market, whereas globalization leads to cross-listing of different products, forcing analysts to study multiple sources of data.
From a growing abundance of data to a multitude of risks, complexity comes from all directions. This multifaceted environment creates data management challenges from an efficiency, accuracy and quality standpoint, and forces many companies to undergo significant infrastructure transformation in order to help mitigate risk, optimize capital and drive operational efficiency. Now more than ever, companies depend on automated data aggregation and analysis tools (such as ZE’s Market Analysis Suite, ZEMA) to Stay Ahead of the Curve.
In the second half of 2012, ZE is offering a series of enterprise data and risk management workshops across North America, Europe and Asia. Please continue to check our events page for the most recent event updates.
